And Minnesota has the best system for voting and vote counting?

I think that absentee ballots should be for people that are going to be out of town on election day.

I think that if you can't read the instructions and fill out the ballot properly, maybe your vote should not count. There are people at the polling place to assist you, if needed. If you goof up, you can get a new ballot. If you still manage to screw it up, maybe the vote shouldn't count. All you need to do is fill in a little circle.

The idea of a panel trying to decide voter intent drive me crazy. If you can't fill out the ballot properly and it causes a question, it should maybe not count.

I voted for one of them, but I wish neither would get in at this point.

Amen to that, Ray.

Does an absentee ballot really amount to a secret ballot? You have to give your name and address, right? We pride ourselves in the fact that we vote in secret, and then the election comes down to a bunch of ballots with voter's names and addresses on them.

At least we didn't have any quasi-military organizations providing "security" at the door, as in Philadelphia. Oh, and our governor isn't selling the seat to the highest bidder.

Thank heaven for small favors, eh?

Since they can have a recount... why can't we have a process that allows us to change the people running? I mean if they are allowed to argue what they believe a person was thinking when they voted and not just ask them, maybe we could just take it a little further and allow the public to pick some new candidates as well and then just revote the whole thing. At this point it looks as if it is going to cost more than the original election.

I think the whole thing is very frustrating. I know that any losing candidate who was down by only a few votes would want the same thing Franken does. But it's difficult, when you know how many millions of dollars are at stake (for each party), to believe that the outcome will be fair and just.

I just can't wait for it to be over. And for what it's worth, I voted for the 3rd candidate, not these two.

My personal opinion is that when you have a vote end in a tie, you've done nothing to sway opinion or create consensus. The election was a coin flip. Heads or tails doesn't matter, we are still a state completely divided. That's sad.

I liked what Georgia did. It was too close so they ran off the top two vote getters. It would have been a lot better then this goofy system of the panel deciding intent.
