I've always enjoyed watching the horse shows. But I think mostly I just prefer to wander around and see all the people enjoying themselves. Guess I've got the right job!

Being a grandparent at the fair is the best! For the price of parking the van, my grandkids (ages 4, 3, 3, and 2) and I can enjoy the animal barns, the puppet show, riding the little "train," sitting on tractors, lawn mowers and 4-wheelers, and playing on the Rainbow playset. The kids love to dance in front of the music performers at Entertainment Square, too. I also like visiting the Home Activities building to see the quilts, photography and knitting projects. And I've got to have one of those giant lemonades. It's good, cheap fun.
Then you'll be glad to know that parking your van costs only $5 this year, instead of $7. Have fun! I know I will.
I'm looking forward to seeing what is new at the county fair. Of course there are the old standbys -- demolition derbies and horse shows and exhibits and lots of food -- but I like a little change. The fair staff does a good job of switching things up a little each year. More on that in the print editions prior to the best five days of summer.

I'm hoping to write a story about the wrestling event, so more information should be coming soon. I like that the county fair is trying something different.
