It's almost time for the Olympics.
I'm not an avid watcher of Olympic events, mainly because I don't have cable TV (I know, I'm in the Ice Age) and I don't pay enough attention to the TV schedule.
But I found an interesting little feature that Sports Illustrated did online. It's called Swimmers To Watch.
They did similar features for other sports, too.
Also, check out the schedule of events, the ESPN TV schedule, and the listings for my other favorite sport -- baseball.

Back to page topI’m not a huge fan of the summer Olympics, but I tend to watch the swimmers and the basketball team. Of course, the opening ceremony starts during my rehearsal dinner and I’ll be on my honeymoon the next week while the events are running. So I’ll probably miss a good chunk of the games.

Back to page topI enjoy the gymnastics, swimming and track at the Olympics.
I wonder how the marathon runners will do in the smog?

Back to page topI watched a bunch of the track events last night, and it was pretty interesting. My wife is a big fan of Jamaica (she’s on the American board of Sunbeam Boys Home in Jamaica), so she was happy to see a number of Jamaican runners fare well. It was fun, too, to watch with my dad, who used to be a high school trackster himself and was a track coach.

Back to page topI've watched swimming, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, diving, women's softball, sculls, just to name a few. I try to watch sports that I am not familiar with to learn about them. The only time the TV hasn't been on the Olympics is when I turn to check on the MN Twins.

Back to page topWe were flipping back and forth between the two last night and, since I was in charge of the remote, it was my fault that we missed the three runs the Twins scored when they went from seven to 10 -- like I was supposed to know it was going to happen in the few minutes we were on the Olympics!
