Our last contest was won by 14 year old, Storm Moll of Belle Plaine, Minnesota with her winning entry "Don't throw Peace Away."

We're in search of our next best “Trashformation” artist! The Recycled Art Contest is open to recycled artists ages 10 and older.

Entries will be displayed at 225 Water Street starting September 1st and the winning entries will be announced September 6th and cash prizes will be awarded for the top three finalists.

A meeting of the Jordan Economic Development Authority is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 15.  

The Jordan Government Center is located at 210 First St. E. Meetings generally take place in the city council chamber in the basement of the city hall.

Scott County and its partners in SCALE are pleased to welcome the public to attend the SCALE Regional Public Safety Training Facility Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting on Wednesday, July 16. This event – which will feature keynote speakers, refreshments, and interesting exhibits and safety-related displays -- will be held from 2:30 p.m. (remarks at 3:00) to 8:00 p.m.

This event will be held at the Regional Public Safety Training Facility, located at 17706 Valley View Drive in Jordan.

Scott County and its partners in SCALE have planned a public grand opening and ribbon cutting on Wednesday, July 16, for the Regional Public Safety Training Facility, located at 17706 Valley View Drive in Sand Creek Township, near Jordan.

 

The event — which will feature speakers, refreshments, exhibits and safety-related displays — will be held from 2:30 to 8 p.m. with remarks from speakers at 3 p.m.

The Jordan High School cheerleaders will be washing cars to raise funds for the cheerleading program this weekend, said coach Dannica Erickson. One car wash costs $5.

The fund-raiser will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, at Radermacher's Fresh Market, 500 W. Second St. in Jordan.

Bob Lau’s vineyard is well situated in Blue Earth County to demonstrate the first three years of vineyard establishment in Southern Minnesota. Bob has planted all University of Minnesota, cold-hardy varieties and will market to the growing Minnesota wine industry beginning this year. Our last contest was won by 14 year old, Storm Moll of Belle Plaine, Minnesota with her winning entry "Don't throw Peace Away."

We're in search of our next best “Trashformation” artist! The Recycled Art Contest is open to recycled artists ages 10 and older.

Entries will be displayed at 225 Water Street starting September 1st and the winning entries will be announced September 6th and cash prizes will be awarded for the top three finalists.

Seven Story Farm is a small-scale, diversified enterprise located near Belle Plaine. Grower, Heidi Morlock specializes in woody florals, small fruits, and nuts. The property also provides an excellent ex-ample of an on-site, restored wetland. Heidi is very concerned about biodiversity on her farm and works to integrate native plants into her marketing and farm plans. During this informative afternoon, Heidi will share her experiences establishing, managing, and marketing the many diverse features of the farm.

The Jordan School Board meets at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11.

Meetings generally take place in the boardroom at the District 717 office, which is located in Jordan Middle School, 500 Sunset Drive.

A meeting of the Jordan Planning Commission is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12.

The Jordan Government Center is located at 210 First St. E. Meetings
generally take place in the city council chamber in the basement of the

The Scott Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will be having its monthly meeting on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at 8:00 a.m. at their office in the Scott County Extension and Conservation Center within the Scott County Fairgrounds in Jordan. The city of Jordan will host an informational meeting in regard to installing some kind of traffic control at the intersection of Creek Lane and Highway 282.

Two suggestions -- a roundabout or stoplight -- have been made and studied by the city engineer. 

The public is invited to attend the meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the Jordan High School lecture room. The high school is located at 600 Sunset Drive.

The public is invited to attend a free family day on Saturday, Aug. 16, at Huber Park in Shakopee from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for a “Legacy of Hope” celebration to mark Southern Valley Alliance for Battered Women’s 25th year of providing services to victims of domestic violence in Carver and Scott counties.

The afternoon will be filled with huge inflatable adventures for kids, live entertainment provided by the Swamp Kings and the JNH band, free games, prizes and treats. A short program will take place at 3 p.m. followed by the presentation of some giveaways.
