County holds pesticide collection
Scott County will be holding a residential pesticide collection from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 27, at the Scott County Household Hazardous Waste Facility, 588 Country Trail E. in Spring Lake Township, in cooperation with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.
This particular collection event will allow the county to save local tax dollars, because the Minnesota Department of Agriculture has agreed to cover the disposal costs of all pesticides collected at this collection event only.

Historical society holds quilt demo
The Scott County Historical Society will host a crazy quilt demonstration from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at the Stans Museum, 235 Fuller St. S. in Shakopee.
This event is free for all historical society members. The cost for nonmembers is $4 for adults and $2 for students.

Historical society seeks antique sellers

The Scott County Historical Society is looking for antique dealers and vendors interested in participating in the Antique Flea Market July 31 and Aug. 1.
The cost is $25 for a 15-foot-by-15-foot booth for the two-day show. Dealers and vendors interested in participating should call the historical society at 952-445-0378 or e-mail info@scottcountyhistory.org to reserve their space.

Historical society seeks volunteers
The Scott County Historical Society is looking for volunteers to staff shifts at its booth at the Scott County Fair July 22-26, assist at the Antique Flea Market in Shakopee July 30 and Aug. 1, and serve ice cream floats at the society’s ice cream social Aug. 1 in Shakopee.

Historical society offers Jordan tour

The Scott County Historical Society will hold a walking tour of Jordan’s historic Water Street at 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 8. Participants will meet at the southwest corner of Broadway and Water streets.
Tickets cost $10, and participants will also receive a tour booklet. Registration is required.

County fair deadlines approach

The Scott County Fair Creative Arts and Livestock Entry deadline is July 15.
All entries must be postmarked by this day. Commercial Booths are still available.

Mrs. Scott County applications available

Applications are being accepted for the Mrs. Scott County pageant. Mrs. Scott County will represent the county at the Mrs. Minnesota pageant March 6 and 7, 2010, in St. Cloud and will receive a prize package worth $7,000.
Competitions in the pageant are the personal interview, aerobic wear, and evening gown. Married women living in Scott County who are interested in applying can get more information by calling Allison Stavrakis at 952-432-6758 or e-mailing pagunltd@frontiernet.net.
