Jordan’s team Plaid won the regional Knowledge Bowl competition in Mankato last week. While the team is made up entirely of high school freshmen, the junior high level of the Knowledge Bowl competition includes grades 7-9.

Two members of team Plaid – Bryant Baker and Matt Timmons – also compete with the high school team, which began its season last week.

Here’s a closer look at the junior high team that took home the trophy:

Why she joined the team: “I joined because I thought it would be pretty fun.”

Why he joined the team: "Matt (Timmons) convinced me to join. It’s really fun, so I stuck with it.”

Why she joined the team: The team was missing a player during the last competition, and they begged Torgerson to fill in. “I subbed in, so I had to come this week. I didn’t sign up.”
