Doctor earns Bush Medical Fellowship (and other happenings in and around New Prague)

Here's what's been going on in and around New Prague lately, according to the New Prague Times: - Dr. Troy Hanson of New Prague earned a 2008 Bush Medical Fellowship, - New Prague High School principal Tom Doig applied for an open position as a superintendent in International Falls. - The New Prague school board approved most of its $30 million budget, including $404,100, or 1.36 percent, in reserves. - New Prague won its first Missota Conference title in boys track and field. - New Prague's adapted softball team went to state last weekend. - Werner Giesen was inducted into New Prague High School's Hall of Fame. He was a two-time all-state basketball player who graduated in 1971. - The city narrowed its field of candidates to five for the open position of city administrator. The applicants include Lakeville's assistant city administrator, Hanover's city administrator, Lonsdale's city administrator, the former city administrator in Marshall, and the acting planning director in New Prague. - City officials broke ground on a new emergency services center in New Prague. - Connie Westall of New Prague sat in the sixth row at a filming of "Oprah," when Oprah Winfrey treated the audience to her favorite summer picks giveaway. - New Prague's boys golf team finished in first place in the Missota Conference for the fourth year in a row. The championships were played at the Ridges at Sand Creek golf course in Sand Creek Township.
