Here's what's been going on in and around Belle Plaine lately, according to the Belle Plaine Herald:
- In a primary election early this month, Belle Plaine voters eliminated an incumbent city councilmember from running for re-election. The remaining council candidates are Gary Trost, Jeff Schipull, Cary Coop, and Bob Chausse. Councilmember Tim Lies did not make the cut.
- Chard Tiling & Excavating of Belle Plaine is building a roundabout in Cologne.
- The Minnesota Department of Transportation closed the crossing at Highway 169 and County Road 3 in Belle Plaine.
- Belle Plaine Police Chief Steve Rost announced his retirement. He has served in law enforcement for 30 years.
