St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jordan held its fall festival last Sunday. This is photographer Ron Mornson's take of the events:
Last month, Cedar Summit Dairy in Helena Township hosted 150 people for dinner at one long table in a pasture.
Guests tried wines from Minnesota wineries and ate food that came from area farms and local farmers markets. Chefs from Heartland Cafe and the Corner Table in Minneapolis cooked prime ribs of veal, soup, beans, and red potatoes.
"People learn about a specific place through the meal," Jim Deneven, the organizer of the event called Outstanding in the Field, told the New Prague Times.
Seventy years ago, Busch's Store in Jordan installed an electric peanut roaster.

Fifty years ago, Frank Betchwars bought out partner Richard Hartman's interest in the Hamburger Home restaurant in downtown Jordan.

Two of the newest additions to New Prague are likely to be a Mexican restaurant and a bakery.
After hearing complaints against and support for proposal last week, the New Prague City Council approved a conditional-use permit for the East Town Plaza strip mall to include restaurants in its leased spaces, according to the New Prague Times. The planning commission had recommended against the move.

Fifty years ago, the Lutheran Ladies Aid stand at the Scott County Fair featured the famous Jordan Fair Soup. Made from a special recipe, it was chicken vegetable, just like the previous 25 or 30 years.
