LE SUEUR -- The Mayo House Interpretive Society (MHIS) cordially invites you to tour the W.W. Mayo House this November.
The first 150 people to tour during normal open hours will receive a Mayo House 150 years commemorative gift.
This November marks a significant anniversary because in November of 1859, Dr William Worrell Mayo moved his family to this little house, that he had spent the summer building, on Main Street Le Sueur. While the family lived in the home William James Mayo was born. This house was the first place Dr W.W. Mayo set up his medical practice. The family moved to Rochester in 1864 where Dr. W.W. Mayo along with his sons Drs. William and Charlie Mayo went on to build the Mayo Clinic.
An admission fee is charged to tour the Mayo Home (adults $3, seniors $2, children 6-16 $1). November’s open hours are noon to 4 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. Tours begin at the MayoView History Center, 112 North Main St., Le Sueur.
