Because of Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty's solution for the state budget shortfall in 2008-2009, Jordan needed to make an emergency cutback of $118,000 to its budget.

ST. PAUL -- Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced a plan to use the remaining $155 million in reserve funds and trim $271.4 million in state expenditures to balance the state’s budget for the current fiscal year.
ST. PETER -- The Center for Rural Policy & Development today released its latest edition of the Rural Minnesota Journal. The new 145-page volume contains eight articles examining the challenges and advances for women in rural Minnesota.
“Author after author found that these women face unique challenges when it comes to caring for their children and their elderly parents, finding a job or even navigating the health care system,” said Brad Finstad, executive director of the Center for Rural Policy & Development.
Ten years ago, Mark Buesgens resigned from the Jordan City Council after being elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives.

For the second election in a row in House District 35B, DFL candidate Taylor Kristoffe-Jones of Savage failed to unseat Republican state representative Mark Buesgens of Jordan, a five-term incumbent.
Buesgens won with 62 percent.
“I’ve always run on principles and over a decade they haven’t changed,”
he said. “I tried to be honest with whom I am and what I’m about and
people have responded to that fairly consistently.”
