MINNEAPOLIS -– With less than three weeks left until the digital television transition deadline, Twin Cities broadcasters will take part in a nationwide soft test today to help families that are still unprepared for the June 12 transition to digital TV. With over 3.6 percent of Twin Cities families still unprepared, the test will be a red alert for thousands of households to act now.

MINNEAPOLIS –- Tomorrow, Feb. 17, was the original government-mandated deadline for the digital television transition, which has now been extended to June 12 to allow affected households more time to make the transition.

WASHINGTON --in a letter to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar continued to push the two agencies to prepare for consumers who may be unable to receive digital television service when the transition takes effect this February. She also pressed them to ensure call centers are staffed with the technical knowledge to help consumers.
